We have chicks!

After the Minnesota DNR Falconcam had been down for a few days, we came back this morning and found out that Acadia has two hatched eggs!

THE MINNESOTA FALCON CAM FAMILY GROWS

I spent quite a bit of time watching Acadia this morning, caring for her two new chicks. I didn't see the second chick for quite some time, and then I learned that there was a third! The first chick came at the end of May, and the 2nd and 3rd came Tuesday, June 2nd.

She's got her hands, or should I say, wings full, trying to hatch the remaining two eggs, but trying to care for two eggs AND three chicks, seems like it's a pretty big task.

This morning, as I was watching her, her partner brought breakfast in for her and the newborn. She moved, and I saw that two had indeed hatched! They both look hungry and healthy. I don't know where that third one is hiding!

THE EXCITING SEASON THUS FAR...

If you're just catching up, the falcon pair saw the arrival of their first egg on Sunday, April 19th, and the second on Tuesday, April 21st. Number three came on Thursday, April 23rd, the fourth Sunday, April 26th, and the surprising fifth egg came on Tuesday, April 27th.

AN EXCITING FIRST TIME

This is the first time since this nesting box was placed in 1987 that there have been five eggs in the nest.

The next exciting phase will be when all five eggs hatch. If they do, will Acadia and her mate be able to care for them all, or will we lose some?

We'll keep you posted. For now, you can watch along by clicking HERE.

Beautiful Photos From Clemens Gardens

This weekend was a great one to get out and do something fun. I wanted to destress, so I drove over to Clemens Gardens for a nice stroll through the gardens. What a beautiful place it is. There are flowers everywhere, as well as fountains and statues. These photos only capture part of what's available to see, but in case you haven't had a chance to visit, now is a great time to view them, as everything is in full bloom. Take a look at some beautiful photos and then make a plan to take your own trip. All of your senses will thank you.
