ST. CLOUD - A central Minnesota company is making signs to support two local law enforcement agencies. Sign Max of St. Cloud and Alexandria has banners, yard signs, and bumper stickers available that say "we support local law enforcement".

Spokesman John Kron says Sign Max has donated all of the material and labor costs.

He says part of the money raised will go to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

The law dogs group, basically the K-9 unit. That money will be used for training the dogs. Also, outfitting the dogs with bullet proof vests.

Kron says some of the money will also go to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.  They'll use the money to help protect staff that are not deputies.

They're out in the public. The Sentence To Serve guys, the people that are transporting criminals from one facility to the other. They're out in the public, and right now they don't have bullet proof vests.

Stearns County Sheriff Chief Deputy Bruce Bechtold says the vests individually cost $800-$1,000.  The Sheriff’s Office employs approximately 80 uniformed staff.

Kron says Sign Max has also signed on to work with the Long Prairie Police Department, and the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

A $10 donation is suggested for the 3' X 5' banner, a $5 donation is suggested for the 18" X 24" yard sign, and a $1 donation is suggest for the bumper sticker.

He says Sign Max wanted to put a positive light on everything law enforcement does for the community.

You can pick them up at either Sign Max location in Alexandria or St. Cloud, or at the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office at 807 Courthouse Square.  Also, they'll be selling the signs, banners, and bumper stickers at the remaining Summertime By George concerts this summer.
