Less than seven hours after Minnesota-based Hormel announced a new pumpkin spice flavored version of spam, the limited edition canned meat sold out.

Hormel announced Monday morning that it would be selling a limited edition pumpkin spice spam online at Spam.com and Walmart.com.

At just $8.98 per two-pack, the polarizing canned meat sold out in less than seven hours.

Many SPAM fans were left disappointed.

The disappointment is no doubt compounded by news that Hormel won't be releasing any more pumpkin spice flavored products.

"Our fans continue to amaze us with their passion for the Spam brand," Brian Lillis, senior brand manager at Hormel Foods, told the Star Trib. "At this time, we do not have any plans for more Spam Pumpkin Spice products, but we're always keeping our eye on new flavors or varieties that will resonate with our fans."

The last time Hormel launched a new flavor of spam was in 2013 with Spam Teriyaki.
