I'm trying to finish this decade strong and stick to my diet plan. I've got some fitness goals that I want to crush before we head into 2020. But, Thanksgiving is coming up and I, like many people, don't want to be thrown off track.

I've got a terrible sweet tooth and a love affair with everything chocolate. I found the best brownie recipe you can doctor up for the holidays and totally be rocking the health thing and stay within your diet plan. Plus, it's gluten free and dairy free. It pretty much checks all of the boxes.

I'll warn you that you'll read the ingredients list and wonder how the H-E-double hockey sticks this could possibly taste like brownies or chocolate cake. Trust the process...it does. There's zero chance I'd eat this if it didn't taste exactly like cake. I'm willing to bet if you were blind folded and asked to try this recipe against regular chocolate cake, you wouldn't be able to pick out the recipe with beans in it. Yes, there's beans in it.

The brownie recipe will serve 18. You can also make individual servings in muffin tins to make sure you're portioning this out perfectly. This recipe is great on its own, but if you're looking to doctor it up a little more, you can serve with lite whipped cream and strawberries on top or even make a healthy protein frosting to pair with it.

Each serving is 80 calories of chocolate goodness. If you want to go crazy and eat the entire pan it'll be 1,445 calories (still less calories than most slices of pie and cheesecake).

  • 1 can of black beans
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips

You'll need a food processor or blender. Drain the beans, add them to the food processor and mix for 1 minute. Then, add the eggs and honey. Blend in the food processor for another minute.

Grab a large bowl and pour in your bean mixture. Then add all of the other ingredients except for the chocolate chips. The cocoa powder is difficult to mix in with the liquid. It might take time. Fold in the cocoa powder until the batter is the consistency of regular brownie mix.

Next, add the mixture into a pan of your choosing. I like to use muffin tins. I'll sprinkle 3 dark chocolate chips on top of each cup cake.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
