8 Times St. Cloud Made The ‘Big Time’
St. Cloud, Minnesota isn't as small as we think. In fact, we've had our brush with fame several times over the years. Our town is kind of famous! Don't believe me? Check out the list of our 'big time' moments below.
1. The Mighty Ducks (1992)--scenes from the movie were filmed in the Stearns County Courthouse.
2. Catch Me If You Can (1989)--Scenes from the film were filmed near Cathedral High School and at various locations around the St. Cloud area.
3. "On A Bus To St. Cloud"-- It's a famous country song by Trisha Yearwood, married to Garth Brooks. The song starts, "On a bus to St. Cloud, Minnesota/ I thought I saw you there". We totally got a shout out!
4. Keeping Up With The Kardashians--Kim Kardashian was briefly married to Kris Humphries who has ties to St. Cloud. He was hosting a basketball clinic for the St. Cloud Boys And Girls Club and it ended up making it into their wedding episode. Their wedding special made history for being their most viewed event on TV to that point.
5. Fargo (on FX): Season 3 of the TV show Fargo was set in St. Cloud...even though none of the actual scenes were filmed here.
6. 1408 (2007): St. Cloud got a shout out in this Stephen King thriller. John Cusack's character mentions St. Cloud, Minnesota as being one of the most haunted locations he's ever been to. He references an incident where a woman threw her baby down a well. The Stearns History Museum has never been able to verify the claim and has reached out to Stephen King himself.
7. Juno (2007): the movie was partially set in St. Cloud even though no scenes were filmed here.
8. How I Met Your Mother--the sitcom's character Marshall Eriksen is from St. Cloud. Numerous reference are made throughout the seasons.
