5 Things You Didn’t Know About the Minnesota State Fair
Since you were a kid, you've known about the mighty Minnesota State Fair; The great big get together where Minnesotans come together to share in things they love; food, fun, friends, rides, music. Year over year, there are rarely any other states that can hold a candle to our pride and joy.
The Minnesota State Fair has an interesting past. I'm just wondering if you knew about some of these interesting State Fair facts?
WHICH ARTIST OR BAND HAS MADE MORE APPEARANCES AT THE STATE FAIR THAN ANY OTHER?
The answer is country music's own, Alabama. I actually saw Alabama at the State Fair. I believe I saw them with Randy Travis and maybe even The Judds. That obviously was in the late 80's or early 90's.
WHAT ARE THE RECORD HIGH AND LOW TEMPS AT THE STATE FAIR?
Way back in 1931, the state fair had some of it's hottest days at 104; while the record low was 33 in 1890.
IN 1920, WHAT WAS INTRODUCED AS 'THE FUTURE OF DINING?"
The Automatic Eater, an all-you-can-eat buffet that was on a rotating conveyor belt system, created by Reverend J.M. Batinger. The all-you-can-eat buffet cost? 50 cents.
WHAT SPECIAL EVENT HAPPENED ON JUNE 22ND AT THE FAIR?
The very first airplane flight in Minnesota History. Mic drop.
