Heartbreaking news came out of Millerville the weekend before Christmas. Authorities say two brothers are dead after being overcome by fumes in a grain silo on a West Central Minnesota farm. The victims were identified as 47-year-old Curt F. Boesl and 49-year-old  Steven T. Boesl.

Curt and his son Alex were working on the top of the silo and were apparently overcome by fumes. Another son was outside the silo, saw what happened and called 9-1-1, as well as his uncle Steve to come help.

Ambulance personnel declared Steven Boesl dead at the scene. Curt Boesl died Sunday morning after being taken to a Twin Cities hospital.

Alex, the son working in the silo with his dad was also overcome by the fumes and was taken to the Minneapolis Children's Hospital.

Megan Peterson of nearby Brandon, Minnesota started a GoFundMe fundraiser for the families involved. The money is going to be split between the families of Curt and Steve to help them during this incredibly difficult time.

In just one day the GoFunMe was shared over 1,200 times, and 205 donors raised $15,880.

Megan posted an updated on Sunday, Dec. 22nd saying:

Thank you everyone for your generous support of the Boesls. We have stopped accepting donations at this time. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers!

In the wake of something awful, this is a great example of the community coming together to help out a neighbor in any way they can. No one should have to suffer loss, and it happening during the holidays is even worse. The Boesl family is in all our thoughts and prayers.
