If you were on a high school golf team in Central Minnesota, these might hit close to home.

1. Battling For Gym Space:

Courses don’t open soon enough to really practice for the season. You’d have to fight for gym space with the track, tennis, softball, and baseball teams for a practice area. And then when you did get it you’re hitting plastic wiffle balls that really don’t help at all.

2. Combining Teams With Other Schools

If your school was small you’d have to combine with neighboring schools to HOPEFULLY have enough people interested in being in golf.

3. You Missed A LOT of School

You missed a lot of class time at the end of the year. Tournaments take all day, and you have to be out of the classroom to be at them. Not good for finals scores, but it made all the other kids jealous.

4. Playing Territory for Sections Was A Real Fear

Walking Territory Golf Club is a challenge in itself. Walking it when it was the Sections meet was a whole different beast.

5.  Cathedral's Team Was Intimidating

It seemed like everyone on that team was going to end up on the PGA Tour. Even the 5th position girls I golfed with.

6. You Had a Stock Pile of Rain Ponchos

You had a stock pile of rain ponchos because it would always rain on meet days, and they don’t call them off until it thunders. Also golfing in a poncho could be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

7. Snacks Were The Best Part

Tournaments take ALL DAY. If you golfed in the same position you’d know who you were golfing with and coordinate who’s going to bring what snacks to share.

8. Sharing Coaches

Small school = small teams = less coaches. One year we had to borrow a track coach to drop us off and pick us up at all our meets.

9. Early Morning Start Times Were The Worst

You’re dressed for winter weather at 8 AM, but by 11 AM you’d be sweating and having to lug around a winter wardrobe in your golf bag.

10. It Was The Best Sport To Play

While everyone else wishes they could still play their high school sport, you are. #Thriving
