Lace up the shoes, don the running skirt and get ready for the 10-mile distance race ladies,  also available to participate in is the  5K  Walk/Run and a 1-mile girls' race.

The Minnesota Press calls it, "Favorite Walk, Run or Bike For a Cause".

The loop course gets under way at Minnehaha Park and will grace the shores of the Mississippi  from Minneapolis to St. Paul and back again.

It's the sixth aniversary of the race slated for September 27th and close to around 2,700 runners are  expected to participate.

The race is listed by ESPN as one of the top five races for women in the country. According to ESPN,  "Women's races offer a decidedly different vibe than their coed cousins: more camaraderie, a sole sister atmosphere that welcomes all runners and walkers and lots more running skirts."

The race was created by an organization; MNCREW was founded in 1995 by women for women and has more than 200 members. The proceeds will be split between the Ann Bancroft Foundation - which was named for the famous Minnesota born explorer - and MNCREW. Mark your calendars for this rewarding event September 27th, 2012.
