ST. CLOUD -- A Stearns County judge has agreed to a lesser sentence for a woman who provided the drug responsible for killing a man despite prosecutors' objections.

Judge Sarah Hennesy sentenced 36-year-old Amy Lauer to seven years in prison but Lauer won't serve any of the prison time if she abides by the proabtion set forth for the next 25 years.

Lauer pleaded guilty to 3rd degree murder after a drug overdose last spring. Lauer was accused of giving the narcotic Fentanyl to Ryan Stirling Boen last April.

Stirling Boen was found unresponsive in a home in the 1000 block of 22nd Avenue North on April 20th, 2016. Court records show an autopsy determined the 33-year-old St. Cloud man had died of drug toxicity related to Fentanyl consumption.

Through their investigation, police say Lauer illegally gave Stirling Boen the drugs.
