The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the southern half of Minnesota, in effect through 6 PM Tuesday. 6 to 8 inches of snow is expected in the St. Cloud area.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Be prepared for difficult travel conditions, especially Tuesday morning. The latest road conditions can be found at 511mn.org or by calling 511.

From the National Weather Service this afternoon: Confidence is high that an impactful wintry mixed precipitation event will unfold tonight through Tuesday. Over the 2 day period, accumulating snow with amounts generally in the 3-6" range is expected for much of central MN while ice accretion of between several hundredths of an inch to near one quarter inch is likely over southern MN -- where hazardous travel conditions and isolated power outages are possible.
