We've got a crisis on our hands.  Apparently, we're looking at a nationwide clown shortage right here in America.  According to Glen Kohlberger, whose the head of 'Clowns of America International', new clowns just aren't signing up fast enough to replace all the old timers who are dying off.

The number of actual working clowns is down from 3500 (2004) to 2500 today.  Glen says a big issue is getting kids who love the circus today to consider making this a career.  The salary isn't that great either. The average salary for a professional clown is approx. $38,000 year with no real benefits.  For some of you out there (Jon Armond), this is very welcome news.  I have a ton of friends who are terrified of clowns and would love to see them become extinct.
