SO...WHAT ARE PANNEKOEKENS?

Pannekoekens are basically pancakes with origins in Belgium or the Netherlands. Pannekoekens are usually about a foot in diameter, and much thinner than American pancakes.  If I think about it, my Grandmother probably made us Pannekoekens..But we just called them Big Pancakes when we were little.  I remember going to The Pannekoeken Huis when I was young...was that in St. Cloud?  As far as I know, you can still enjoy Pannekoekens if you drive to the cities. WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS OF PANNEKOEKENS?

Pannekoekens are made of the same ingredients as our pancakes. The traditional flour, milk, salt and eggs.  Toppings abound...What's your preference? Much like crepes, these can be topped with just about anything.

COUNTING CALORIES?

If you're counting calories, pancakes or pannekoekens aren't bad...but be careful about adding toppings. The have about 190 calories per cake, with approximately 6 grams of protien..that's before you smother it with apples, cinnamon, sugar and other toppings.

WHO NEEDS A BIRTHDAY CAKE WHEN YOU COULD HAVE A PANNEKOEK?

In the Netherlands, Pannekoekens are a very popular choice for a child's birthday meal. I think for my 50th Birthday, I'm going to ask my mom to make me ...or TAKE me to Pannekoeken!
