A study at the University of Konstanz in Germany found that a simple trick to lose weight is to eat with a blindfold on. People who ate blindfolded took in 9% fewer calories before they felt full, compared to people who could see their food. The blindfolded people estimate they'd eaten 88% more calories than they actually had.

The researchers say blindfolds work for two reasons. Because they stop you from eating for pleasure, and eating with a blindfold on stops you from following your natural instinct to eat everything you see on your plate.
