Vitaminwater Will Give $100,000 To Someone Who Can Go A Year Without Their Smart Phone

Vitaminwater just announced a contest that would award someone $100,000 to give up their phone for an entire year. Do you think that you could do it?

I think it would be easy, considering that you're still able to use a laptop or desktop computer. They're also going to provide you with an old flip phone to use for calling and in case of emergencies. So, what are you really giving up here?

If I gave up my smart phone for an entire year I think I'd spend my time in the woods hydrating myself with Vitaminwater while searching for Bigfoot...because what else in the world is there to do? I'm only joking.

If you'd like to enter the contest you have to do it before Jan. 8 by posting on Twitter or Instagram how you'd spend your year without your smart phone. Use the hashtags #NoPhoneForAYear and #Contest.

If you think you're just going to sign up for the contest and then lie to them--no such luck! You have to take a lie detector test at the end and pass it.

I read the official rules, so there's a little more that goes into selecting someone than a quick social media post about it. If you're seriously considering entering the contest and you think you have what it takes to make it an entire year...here are some things you should know.

A panel of judges are scoring you based on these 4 criteria:

• Creativity and originality of your submission  counts for 30% (so, make sure you've got a fun idea that stands out from all of the other submissions)
• Cultural or brand relevance of submission counts for 30% (Make sure that your goal fits your personality and the Vitaminwater brand)
• Humor of your submission counts for 30% (humor is subjective)
• Quality of submission counts for 10% (make sure you don't have spelling and grammar errors and you're using high quality video  and/or photos)

The top scorer will be offered the chance to go one year without their smart phone with $100,000 on the line. So, if you think you have an original idea and can make it a whole year without going on your smart phone then sign up before Jan. 8th!
