ST. CLOUD -- United Way of Central Minnesota is celebrating their 50th anniversary Thursday and want you to join in festivities.

The organization is holding a community event at Lake George from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Jessica Johnson is the Director of Marketing and Communications for United Way. She says the event is about celebrating the community for their dedication over the last 50 years.

"We couldn't do our work without the entire community. It's not just about our staff at United Way but it's about everyone who gives their time and treasures."

She says before the event, volunteers will be working on different projects throughout the morning as part of Day of Action.

"Every year we do what we call A Day of Action, and that's a day where we bring in projects where we have volunteers come in to do those and help us."

The Community Day of Action is free to attend and  includes games, drawings, inflatables, balloon artists, food vendors, beer garden and live music.
