Unfortunately – Seems To Be No Stopping Jersey Shore

I am about to disclose a fact, that I really wish was not true;  JERSEY SHORE is the most watched TV show in the U.S. among persons between the ages of 12-34.  Oh, it gets worse.

JERSEY SHORE is the most popular television show ever, amongst kids from ages 12-18.  The most popular television show EVER!  Think about that.  Have you ever seen an episode of JERSEY SHORE?  It is basically one drunken debacle after another.  Every member of the cast, has at one point or another, completely humiliated themselves while drunk.  They all swear like sailors, and casual sex - with complete strangers - is the norm.  Not exactly what I want my teenager to watch.

What kind of shows did you watch, when you were in that 12-18 age group?  If you're around my age, it was all about the sitcoms.  The Cosby Show, Night Court, Family Ties, etc.  If you watched shows with the adults, it was something like; Magnum P.I., That's Incredible, Love Boat, all very 'family friendly'.

It is every parents' individual decision what to let their child watch, of course.  Personally, I'm happy that my boy is still into Phineus & Ferb and Hannah Montana.  I know those days won't last forever.

But still, I'd rather my kids look up to Alex P. Keaton or Cliff Huxtable, than "The Situation" and "Snooki", if you know what I mean!
