Six Minnesota craft breweries won a total of nine awards last week at the Best of Craft Beer Awards.

Last week, 162 craft breweries from 33 different states attended the Best of Craft Beer Awards in Bend, Oregon. Six Minnesota breweries came home with gold or silver awards including Central Minnesota's Third Street Brewhouse in Cold Spring and Spilled Grain Brewhouse in Annandale.

Spilled Grain Brewhouse was the big winner with three awards -- two golds in the "American-Style Barley Wine or Wheat Wine" category for their False Hope and another in the "Wood- and Barrel-Aged Beer or Aged Beer" category for their 2017 barrel-aged version of the same beer False Hope. SGB also won a silver award in the "Strong Ale or Old Ale" category for their Bearded Man ale.

Third Street Brewhouse won two silvers for the "American-Style Amber/Red Ale" category with their Free Speech and the "American-Style Cream Ale" category with their Minnesota Gold.

Other Minnesota breweries to win awards included:

  • Blacklist Artisan Ales, Duluth -- Silver in the "Belgian-Style Witbier" category with their Wit beer
  • Pryes Brewing Co., Minneapolis -- Silver in the "Berliner-Style with Fruit or Added Flavor" category with their Royal Raspberry Sour
  • Indeed Brewing Co, Minneapolis -- Gold in the "Wood- and Barrel-Aged Sour Beer" category with their Wooden Soul beer
  • Waconia Brewing, Waconia -- Gold in the "Oktoberfest/Wiesen" category with their Oktoberfest
