ST. CLOUD - Two people were arrested Saturday night after a domestic assault call in South St. Cloud.

Police responded to the 700 block of 8th Avenue South and found 42-year-old Edward Lawler of St. Cloud with a potentially life-threatening stab wound to his leg. He was rushed to St. Cloud Hospital.

Police also found 35-year-old Angela Johnston of St. Cloud in the home with visible injuries to her face.

Investigation found that Johnston was first allegedly attacked by Lawler when he punched her. He also allegedly physically abused their dogs during the incident. After the first assault, Johnston allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Lawler in the leg.

Johnston was taken to hospital for her injuries and was then taken to Stearns County Jail for charges of 1st degree assault. Lawler was also arrested for his assault, which because of his past criminal history will become a felony. He remains in St. Cloud Hospital under watch by St. Cloud Police. He's expected to be taken to Stearns County Jail sometime Monday.

The incident happened just before 10:00 p.m.
