Friday, November 15th the Long Prairie Grey Eagle High School posted on their Facebook page clearing up rumors of a threat made toward the school:

You may have heard rumors that a student has made a threat towards the high school, this rumor is true. However, your school district is aware and took immediate action. We are working with the police department and the student’s family and the student will not be in school until this is resolved.

The school district then went on to say that they firmly believe the threat is contained, and that it is safe for children to attend school. They also thanked the students that alerted school staff of this threat.

The Long Prairie Leader reported that the nature of the threat was not disclosed, and the Long Prairie Police Department has yet to release a statement concerning this ongoing investigation.

My fiance's sister is a senior at the school and sent me a screen shot of the school's statement early this morning. I myself graduated from LPGE High School, and hate to see bad things happen to such a small town. It's a building where everyone knows everyone, so to hear that threats were made hurts my heart for the close knit community. But it is reassuring to hear that the school and police have the situation under control and everyone is OK.
