I had the chance to take a very last minute trip to the beautiful Emerald Coast in Florida over the weekend. The best part was all the major expense were covered. I had a FREE round trip flight, grounds transportation, and was put up in an amazing condo right on Ft. Walton Beach. The weather forecast looked amazing for the weekend, and I would be back home in 36 hours. How could I pass up an opportunity like that? The trip was awesome...the video and pics prove that...its the flight back where things got crappy.

The weather in Dallas was horrible, and caused chaos with both incoming and outgoing flights. I flew out of Pensacola, but connected in Dallas. My flight out of Pensacola was perfect...until...the captain announced the bad weather in Dallas, and that we would be rerouted to Shreveport, Louisiana. Nothing against the fine folks for Shreveport, but airport staff didn't have a clue on what to do, and it was a crap show from the minute we landed there. After a couple hours, we received word that we could now get into Dallas, but would have to leave quickly. Approx 45 minutes later, and two sweaty palms later, we landed in Dallas.

I've flown around the globe, and never experienced what I experienced yesterday in Dallas. The terrible weather caused tons of cancellations, delays and made for a very miserable experience for this guy (and thousands of others). I started my journey back at 5:20 a.m. and didn't walk in my front door until 1:15 a.m. this morning. Still, when look at the pics below, it was all worth it. If I had to do it all over again, I would. If you happen to win Dream Getaway #12 this Friday morning, might I suggest taking a trip to Ft. Walton Beach / Destin, Florida. Its absolutely stunning.
