ST. CLOUD — It's another busy weekend here in Central Minnesota with the 37th Annual Clearwater Rodeo, the Mudman 5K at Powder Ridge, the Weekend of Songs Music Festival in St. Joseph, a Michael Jackson Tribute at Mystic Lake and Jason Ploof performing at Pioneer Place. Read more in The Weekender!

    Clearwater Rodeo


    Saddle up your horse and get ready for a weekend of roping, riding and barrel racing as the 37th Annual Clearwater Rodeo is back starting tomorrow (Friday). The rodeo is put on by the Silver Bullet Saddle Club and features many fun events the whole family can enjoy, including a special kids day. Tickets are $30 for a three day pass, or $14 for general admission and $7 for children under 12 and seniors. Rodeo starts at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow (Friday), 6:00 p.m. Saturday and 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

    Mudman Race

    Powder Ridge - Kimball

    Get ready for the most extreme and muddy 5K race of your life this weekend. The Mudman race is back at Powder Ridge in Kimball on Saturday. The course contains about 18 challenging obstacles all covered in mud. There will even be a smaller course for children to participate in later in the afternoon. You can sign up as an individual runner, parent/child race or the corporate team challenge. Individual race tickets are $65 dollars in advance and $70 on race day. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the first wave starts at 10:00 a.m.

    Weekend of Songs

    St. Joseph

    Enjoy some original music the weekend from local songwriters at the 6th annual Weekend of Songs: Songwriters Festival. The three day event highlights local songwriters as they perform their music at the Local Blend in St. Joseph. This year’s line-up features a mostly “best of” line-up of Central Minnesota songwriters, a songwriters meet-up and the 18-Hour Songwriters Challenge culminating in an afternoon of world premieres to close out the weekend. A $5 donation is encouraged however it's not required. Showtimes start at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow (Friday).

    Rember the Time - Tribute to Michael Jackson

    Mystic Lake

    Several Michael Jackson songs will fill Mystic Lake Casino this weekend. Jeffrey Perez will perform as Michael Jackson in his tribute show Friday and Saturday. Perez has been recognized for his internet video performance of "Leave Me Alone" with have over 40 million views worldwide. Jeffrey truly captures the spirit, essence and vocal power of Michael Jackson. Tickets for the show range $20-$30. Both shows start at 8:00 p.m.

    Jason Ploof

    Pioneer Place

    One of the founding members of Justin Ploof and the Throwbacks will be performing at Pioneer Place tomorrow (Friday) night. Jason Ploof has been performing for nearly 20 years and will showcase his talents in the Lounge of Pioneer Place. His career began with the hit band RoGer back in the 1990s, and he has gone on to play with various bands including the recent Bruce Springsteen tribute show at Pioneer Place. This is a free show to attend and music begins at 9:00 p.m.
