My daughter, Makenzie turned eighteen last December, and I certainly wasn't ready for it.  I became her dad one month shy of my twentieth birthday.  I've made my share of mistakes along the way, and know I wasn't always the best daddy in the world.  I spent a lot of time travelling for work, and divorced her mother when she was just nine-years-old. We haven't always seen eye to eye, but I think every parent has those struggles when dealing with a rebellious teenager.

Tonight is her prom night.  The night every little girl dreams about, and the night every dad dreads.  Of course you want them to have fun, but not too much fun.  You want them to make memories, but not THOSE kinds of memories (if you get my drift).  I'm going into tonight with mixed emotions, and a couple of bud lights.

The 5-Things That Every Dad Thinks About On Prom Night:

1)  How much money is this night going to cost me?

2)  What time are they planning on coming home?

3)  Does he know I'm not afraid to serve time in jail?

4)  Does he know I was once a teenage boy?

5)  Will she remember that I was once the most important man in her life?

In all seriousness, I want her to have the time of her life, and enjoy tonight's festivities.  It only comes around once, and I want her to enjoy every minute of it.  Real life kicks in this fall!
