Ileana’s Movie Review: “Tangled”

“Tangled” — Now playing.
Starring: Voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi
Summary: Mandy Moore voices the sweet Rapunzel in Disney’s tale of the long-haired princess. In this version Rapunzel’s hair has a magical healing quality which is why she gets kidnapped as an infant by Gothel. Gothel raises her as her own in a secluded tower to “protect” her from the evils of the world. After 18 years in the tower, Rapunzel desires nothing more than to see the outside world, so when the opportunity arrives she takes it. Enter our handsome hero Flynn (Zachary Levi). While on the run from the law. Flynn comes across the tower and makes a deal Rapunzel to take her on an adventure. Naturally, Mother Gothel gets upset and goes after Rapunzel, hoping she doesn’t find out the truth about who she is.
This wouldn’t be a true Disney film without the hilarious animal sidekicks and Tangled features two. First is Rapunzel’s chameleon, who is her best friend and confidant. Second is Max the police horse. Max is in pursuit of Flynn but ends up becoming his friend in the end. In my opinion both of these characters stole the show. After a series of mediocre films, it’s nice to see Disney putting out quality material once more. I for one am glad that they have gone back to their fairytale formula, where it all began. Grade: B
Trivia: This is Disney’s first CGI fairytale. It is also the first “princess” film to receive a PG rating, all the others are rated G.
Rating: PG – For cartoon violence and some intense images.
