ST. CLOUD -- We've been spoiled so far this fall, and experts are saying to take full advantage of the beautiful Minnesota weather.

Today (Thursday) is National Take a Hike Day and Stearns County Parks Director Peter Theismann says there is no shortage of walking, hiking, or biking trails you can explore in our own backyard.

"If you want some solitude go out to Rockville, if you wanna see some unusual stuff visit Quarry Park, if you want to see some beautiful forest head out to St. John's, or if you want views of the Mississippi go up to Mississippi River County Park," says Theismann.

From the Lake Wobegon Trail system, the Beaver Island Trail, or Quarry Park there is miles of scenic pathways to explore, each providing a unique experience.

Theismann says it's rare to be outside in shorts and t-shirts this late in November so enjoy the last few weeks of fall before the snow flies.

"A forty to fifty degree day is kind of a perfect time to hike, the bugs are dead, the crowds are gone and it's just a peaceful experience," says Theismann.

Central Minnesota has over 2600 acres of parks and trails to visit.
