Some redevelopment of storms is expected this afternoon as a cold front passes. Severe weather is possible with the afternoon activity, primarily from northern IA across southeast MN and central WI (areas #2 and #3 on the map).
A slight risk of severe thunderstorms is outlooked for much of the area today. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop mainly across the south and east. Storms that do develop could produce large hail damaging winds.
It will certainly feel like summer the next couple of days with afternoon highs topping out in the 80s. Thunderstorms are not expected to develop until this evening, with another round possible Saturday afternoon ahead of cold front that will be working across the area.
Wet weather will return later today as rain shifts north from Iowa. The most widespread rain expected this weekend is in the Friday night through Saturday morning time frame but scattered showers are expected to persist into Sunday morning.
