We get one day to dry out today before rain returns from the southwest tonight. Rain chances will continue into Saturday, though the heaviest and most widespread rain is expected Friday afternoon into Saturday morning from south central MN into western WI.
Some late season thunderstorms moved across the area early Wednesday morning. Thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service from 12:45 a.m. until 2:45 a.m. for area counties, including: Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Todd and Morrison counties.
Storms will push into western MN from South Dakota this evening, weaken by Saturday morning, then redevelop further east Saturday afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging winds are possible with a few of the storms.
Storms will develop late this afternoon across western MN, spread eastward tonight, and exit to the south Wednesday. Large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes are possible, particularly in the enhanced risk area.
