Summer is in full swing and even if you hate the heat and humidity of the season, you have to love the fact that there are super healthy and super yummy foods everywhere. Here are just a few of my favorites.

Corn

Is there anything better than biting into a freshly grilled ear of corn on the cob? Buttery, sweet and crunchy, it's actually good for your eyes. Corn contains antioxidants that boost a certain pigment in your eyes that filter out some of the sun's damaging rays. Click HERE for some really great corn recipes.

Cherries

These tart sweet tasty treats pack a real health punch. Drinking a little bit of cherry juice before bedtime can help increase melatonin, which is a hormone that your body naturally produces to help you get to sleep at night. It can also help if you suffer muscle pain after a workout. Cherries also contain anthocyanins that increase fat burning and decreases fat storage. Click HERE for a no-bake cherry cheesecake recipe.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain lycopenes that may protect your skin from sunburn. Of course, sunblock should be the first thing you reach for, but tomatoes are yummy with some basil, salt and pepper on a slice of whole wheat toast. Click HERE for a great Spanish tomato salad recipe.

Watermelon

Watermelon is full of - wait for it - water which keeps you hydrated and a hydrated brain is a sharp brain. It also helps keep you cool and keeps your weight down. Research shows that when we eat foods that have a high water content keeps us fuller longer and with less calories. Click HERE for a refreshing watermelon thirst quenching drink.
