Last year I went to see O.A.R. in concert and was blown away by the opening act. The opening act happened to be a band from Western Massachusetts called 'Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers' (SK6ERS). These guys were a well oiled machine and their front man (Stephen or Skunk as he's known) commanded the stage like nothing I've seen before. I happened to chat with their manager Steve Bursky of Foundation Management prior to the show and he set me up with a meet and greet following their set. After meeting Stepehen, I was convinced that he was going to be a mega star and this was just the beginning. Little did I know that the SK6ERS formed back in early 2003 and had already released seven albums as a band and Stephen had released seven solo albums (last being 2002's 'Lucky 11').

I made sure that his road crew hooked me up with their latest release (2011's 'Gift Horse') and immedietly added the single 'Gravity' into rotation on Mix 94.9 the following Monday morning.  The response from all of you proved exactly what I thought after hearing Stephen for the first time.  This guys a star and may be music's best kept secret.  He may not be a household name just yet but after being in the music business for well over 20 years, he's amassed a loyal fan base that seems to pack every venue he performs at around the country.

Stephen is on hiatus from his band and hard at work on a brand new solo album due for release June 18th.  His manager (Steve) hooked me up with an advance copy of the song 'Crosses' and were currently warming it up inside the New Music Spotlight with Jade weeknights.  If your interested in seeing a real singer-songwriter who truly loves what he's doing, come see Stephen Kellogg May 30th at the beautiful Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant in Minneapolis.  You can pre-order his new solo album 'Blunderstone Rookery' now and follow his adventures on Twitter

Want to join me for an exclusive listening party with Stephen Kellogg before his May 30th show?  You'll get access to the listening party, a pair of tickets to the show at Dakota Jazz and a chance to brag to all your friends.  Post your contact details below and I'll pick (2) random winners to come along.
