Did anyone else eat cake before they started the weight loss challenge? Come on now, I know I'm not the only one who thought they might never see a piece of cake again!

If you're following the "Diet Free Life" plan, then you know that you can have cake. Just not the WHOLE cake. (portion control: I'm working on it)  When Robert explained how and why we can have cake now and then, or french fries, or pizza, it all made sense. And it sounds like a way that works for life.

The regular days are the easy ones. You have a routine, you plan your meals and snacks and you're good to go. When my day is other than routine, it's more of a challenge for me. It's a psychological thing. Something else I'm working on.

Yesterday Jay had Dr. appointments all afternoon at the VA in Minneapolis. So I packed a Luna bar (they are yummy!) and a protein shake in my purse. Two snacks to get me through the next 6 hours or so. I didn't want any excuses. And if we find ourselves there during lunch or dinner in the future, the VA cafeteria has many great choices.

What do you do to stay on track on a day that is not routine? Share your tips!
