ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Area Family Y is still $1 million away from it's fundraising goal for the planned Aquatic and Community Center.

Executive Director Greg Gack says they're seeking 300 "Community Closers" to can step up by November 9th and commit to donating at least $1,000 each of the next three years.

Last month the Y kicked off the community phase of the fundraising project, with a goal of raising the final $1.4 million needed to begin construction.

The Y is partnering with the city of St. Cloud to build a 103,000 square foot aquatic and community center.

The total budget for the project is about $25 million, with $13 million coming from the half-cent sales tax.

The Y and the city received construction bids for the project this week and hope to approve the start of construction in early November. But, Gack has said they won't begin until all of the money is raised.
