Spotlight on Central Minnesota Parks – Quarry Park & Nature Preserve [VIDEO / PHOTOS]

Around the turn of the century a stone known as Saint Cloud Red Granite was quarried from the land which is now part of Quarry Park. Quarrying operations ceased in the mid 50s and over the years the land reverted back to a more natural state. In 1992, Stearns County purchased 220 acres from the Cold Spring Granite Company. On January 1, 1998, the park was officially opened to the public.

Quarry Park & Nature Preserve features picnic areas, scenic overlooks, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, fishing, swimming, scuba diving and rock climbing.  The park is open daily at 8:00 am until half hour after sunset. Ski season 8:00 am-10:00 pm. Vehicle parking permit required to visit. Daily $5 / Annual $16.
