The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of northwest and west central Minnesota until 6 p.m. Thursday night.

Heavy, blowing snow between 4 to 7 inches is expected. Some areas could see up to 12 inches of snow. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. The NWS says we should expect the wind chill to dip to 40 below zero.

Frostbite can occur in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin in dangerously cold temperatures. The NWS cautions if you're traveling to keep a flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency.
