Selena Gomez is slamming the United States Congress following another school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas on Friday (May 18) that left 10 people dead and another 10 injured.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Gomez, who is a Texas native, said she is at a loss for words following the tragic event. "I am at a complete loss for words watching yet another school shooting," the "Back to You" singer tweeted. "This time in my home state of Texas. Congress continues to do absolutely nothing and it's infuriating."

Following her original tweet, Gomez encouraged her fans to support Everytown, an organization that helps promote gun safety. "My thoughts are with the families of #SantaFe who were supposed to be looking forward to summer break with their loved ones," she continued."Please reach out to @everytown to see what you can do to help be a part of this movement that needs to get even louder."

In related news, Gomez is now working on a follow up to her Revival album. In a recent interview with Beats 1's Zane Lowe, the singer revealed she's been "terrified" to release her next album because of how successful her last one was.

"I was really happy with Revival but at the same time I was terrified of doing another record, because for me it could [have been] a step down," she said. "I needed to beat that record and I think every artist kind of struggles with that. So I waited. I wanted it to be great and had I not waited a good year or two, I wouldn't have had the best songs I've ever had," she continued.
