ST. CLOUD -- A long time St. Cloud jewelry store is preparing to close.

Schepers Jewelers will be closing next month after nearly 70 years in business.

Vice President Joy Sherwood says after working 18 years in the business, she wants to spend more time with her family.

"With working 60 hours a week, my husband is full time active duty in the National Guard and we have baby number three on the way, it was just time to spend more time with the kids and family," says Sherwood.

Sherwood says it was a difficult decision to close the family business. She says they wouldn't be where they are today without the support from their loyal customers.

"All of them have become like family and great friends to us over the years. It's been really great to get to know the community and be apart of it throughout this time," says Sherwood.

Sherwood's grandfather (Emmett Schepers) started the business in 1950 on the east side of St. Cloud. Her father (Dave Shepers) ran the business until his death in 2015.

Schepers Jewelers plans to be open through at least May 14th.
