SARTELL - It will likely be at least another year before we see any development on the former Sartell paper mill site.

The Sartell city council has unanimously approved a one-year moratorium of any new development on three general areas near the river: the paper mill site, parts of DeZurik and the hydro facility.

Planning and Community Development Director Anita Rassmussen says they'll form a task force to evaluate current uses, and plan for potential future uses for the property. The task force is expected to include the three property owners.

AIM spokesman Brian McCool says "the moratorium is unnecessary. The demolition is basically done, and they're ready to move forward". AIM development is the current owner of the site.

However, Patti Gartland from the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation says "it's a good prudent step." She says they've made attempts to communicate with AIM about the future of the site, but haven't gotten a lot of response.

Sartell hopes to have a task force in place by next months city council meeting.
