In a recent interview with Celebuzz, Ryan Gosling said that he knew A.J. McLean back when the Backstreet Boys were just beginning. Ryan says he didn't think they would make it big. Boy, was he wrong . . . for a second.

"When I was doing the Mickey Mouse Club, we were living in the same place as [A.J.]. They were just forming that band, so he was saying how big they were going to be . . . and he had a poster of them in his house. We were like, 'It's never going to happen . . . didn't they already do that with New Kids [ON THE BLOCK]?  You're a little late.'  Cut to . . . I was wrong."

With singing and acting in his line of work, one might think he feels he missed out on the BSB, boy band bandwagon.

"You can't live in the past. You've got to live in the now. That ship has sailed."

I totally agree with you Ryan. You have to follow your heart. It's better to take the risk then as what if. You never know what will happen when you step out of your comfort zone!!! (Even though I'm sure he was comfortable with either singing or acting . . .)

He said he hasn't seen A.J. recently and even joked saying "they're not returning my calls." Aww, poor Ryan. I think your career is doing just fine! Here is Ryan talking to Celebuzz and talks about BSB around the :34 mark.

Boy band member or Hollywood Actor?! I think he picked the right path. What do you think? Should Ryan have chosen to be in a boy band vs acting?
