Richmond Man Arrested After High Speed Chase in Todd County

LONG PRAIRIE - A Richmond man has been arrested after leading authorities on a 26 mile chase.

Todd County deputies tried to stop a vehicle for speeding just after 6:30 p.m. last (Monday) on Highway 71 in Hartford Township.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle entered two fields, causing damage to the crops, in the Browerville area. He was also in the area of Christ The King Cemetery by Browerville.

Todd County Deputies and Long Prairie Police Officers performed a PIT maneuver on the suspect vehicle two different times.

The chase finally came to an end when the vehicle went into the ditch on Highway 71 in Long Prairie Township.

Twenty-year-old Derek Lent of Richmond is facing charges of felony fleeing of a police officer, and criminal damage to property.

The Minnesota State Patrol also assisted with the chase.
