I'm sure like most of you, I can't believe its been 26 long years since eleven-year-old Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped from his hometown of St. Joseph. His family remains dedicated to finding out his whereabouts and has done so much to help missing children all over the world. Please keep the family and community in your thoughts and prayers today. In honor of Jacob and all the missing children, we hope you will join your neighbors throughout central Minnesota in leaving your porch lights on this evening.

Four months after Wetterling's abduction, his parents, Jerry and Patty Wetterling, formed the Jacob Wetterling Foundation, an advocacy group for children's safety. In 1994, the Jacob Wetterling Act was passed in his honor. It was the first law to institute a state sex-offender registry.
