ST. CLOUD — With the 4th of July tomorrow (Friday) many of us are probably waiting to be done with work, but the for the crew at Pyrotechnic Displays, their work is just beginning.
Set up has begun on the annual St. Cloud Firework display tomorrow evening.
Al Tarman has worked with Pyrotechnic Displays since 1998. He says to put on a display this size, takes a lot of work.
“You lower the explosives down into the tubes and then we run the wires to the module boxes and all that runs back to the control module in the fire hunt in the back of the barge,” says Tarman
"…”it’s all worth it in the end."The entire show is timed to music and ran off a computer. Tarman says they will spend a majority of today securing the display and running the wires to the control box.
Tarman says when handling explosives the teams uses all the safety precautions.
“We don’t work with any of the media electronics when we take out the explosives and just being aware of where you are and what’s around you,” says Tarman.
The entire set up takes about two days for a 20 minute show. Tarman says even though set up is a lot of work, it’s worth it.
“There’s nothing that compares to being out here setting up the show,” says Tarman. “And when you’re out here the adrenaline of watching the show go up and hearing the crowd afterwards it’s all worth it in the end,” says Tarman.
The crew will finish wiring the explosives tomorrow afternoon once the barge is put in place.
