Police, Fire Departments Investigating ‘Suspicious Item’ In Downtown St. Cloud [VIDEO]

ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud police and fire departments have responded to a 'suspicious item' in downtown St. Cloud.

WJON reporter Alex Svejkovksy says there are about six police cars, as well as fire trucks, and the Hazmat vehicle near the Capital One building.  He says 7th Avenue South has been blocked off between 1st Street South and West St. Germain Street.

Officers responded to a suspicious item complaint at Capital One just before 10:30 a.m. this (Thursday) morning. An item was delivered to Capital One that was determined to be suspicious by an employee. Due to the nature of the item, employees were evacuated from the area around the room the package was in.

Surrounding businesses have been notified of the situation.

At this time it does not appear the public is in any danger.

The police department is awaiting help to assist with determining if the item is a threat to the business or its employees.
