Police: Alcohol Potential Factor in North St. Cloud Crash
ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud police say alcohol may have played a factor in a one vehicle crash in North St. Cloud earlier this week.
The incident happened just after 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the 1000 block of 2nd Street North.
Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says 23-year-old Marissa Bugg-voss, of St. Paul, was heading South on 10th Avenue North when she approached the intersection and could not stop for the vehicles ahead of her waiting at a red light.
She then swerved to avoid the vehicles, lost control, went through the intersection, struck several bushes, poles and a sign to the business on the corner.
Bugg-voss was taken to St. Cloud hospital for non-life threatening injures.
Oxton says it's believed speed, overcorrection and potentially being under the influence were all contributing factors in the crash.
The case remains active and Bugg-voss could face potential charges for driving under the influence as toxicology test are being processed.
