PRINCETON - Authorities have identified a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed at his Princeton home.

Police say they were called to the home on Monday afternoon. Another 14 year-old boy was at the home.

The victim, Eric Nelson, was identified Tuesday, by his family and Princeton Schools Superintendent Julia Espe. He was an eighth-grader at Princeton Middle School.

Police have provided few details about the shooting.

Eric's mother, Laurie Blegen-Nelson, says her son was a strong-willed kid with a big heart who loves his three siblings "more than life itself."

The superintendent says Eric was well-liked by his peers, helpful and kind with a great sense of humor. She says students and staff are devastated.
