I remember the first time I saw Janet Jackson, it was on an episode of Different Strokes (I was five-years-old). From 1980 to 1984, she played the recurring role of Willis' girlfriend, Charlene DuPrey. She was gorgeous, sweet and could sing! Need proof? Watch below.

Janet's career certainly took off after appearing on Different Strokes. She has a career high of 25 top 10 hits on the Hot 100, 27 top 10 hits on the Hot R&B chart, and 29 top 10 hits on the Hot Dance/Club Play chart. Janet is the first and only artist in history to produce seven top five hits from one album, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814.

Janet is an icon, plain and simple. Nobody does it better, and nobody ever will. An acclaimed actress on both the big and small screen, hit singer / songwriter, philanthropist, humanitarian, and global superstar. Her tour stop in Minneapolis on November 1st was definitely one of the best shows I've ever seen. It was a night filled with her biggest hits, and new songs off 2015's Unbreakable (which hit #1 on the Billboard 200).

P.S. The mayor of Minneapolis also proclaimed it Janet Jackson Day!

I was on a mission to meet Ms. Jackson by any means necessary. I reached out to my contacts in the music industry, emailed her new label, reached out to her management and even found her tour manager on Facebook. I even put together a video in hopes she might see it.

I never gave up...persistence, patience and a little luck = this magic moment actually happening! From our first encounter (in 1980 on Different Strokes) to backstage at the Target Center...dreams really do come true.
