It’s time for the last of Cee Lo‘s three musketeers to take the stage on ‘The Voice‘ tonight. Nicholas David, who was the first person saved last week, will no doubt enthrall us with another inspiring performance.
The soul singer was greeted by Bill Withers, the man who wrote ‘Lean On Me’ — which David sang last week on the show — during rehearsals. Do you see how we come full circle? It’s always such a joy. But this time around, David is singing Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’ and was told by Mr. Withers himself, “Don’t go crazy.”
Joined by a saxophone player, David rocked some serious sunglasses and a brown leather jacket as he stood up before his audience while he played the piano. In typical fashion, his vocals were sentimental and emotional, and the tone of his voice is truly the most unique of the competition. But what’s great about David is despite the laid-back and odd vibe he gives off, there’s a coolness about him that makes him super likable, which will no doubt help him during the competition.
“You pick the best stuff. I just love this element that you give the show, that you give us, entertaining us with these incredible soulful songs,” said Adam Levine. “I’m just gonna be a fan of yours, as a human being, as an artist, whatever.”
Truer words have never been spoken, dear Adam.
