More snow is on the way for our area and we could see up to six inches by the time it's all said and done. If you have weekend plans, here are a few things to remember when driving through wintry conditions, courtesy of AAA.

1. Get Plenty of Rest - Try to avoid driving while you're fatigued because when you're tired your reaction times are slower.

2. Check Those Tires - Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Cold weather has a tendency to make tires go flat and that could lead to accidents and costly repairs.

3. Never Use Cruise - The cruise control system on your car automatically accelerates as you're going up hill. If you're on a slushy, slippery or icy surface, increased speed could send you into a spin you can't pull out of.

4. Pack A Survival Kit - Make sure you have a winter survival kit in your car that includes a brightly colored cloth (to tie to your antenna), extra blankets, energy bars, a flashlight and bottled water. Yes, we are in the digital age, but sometimes when the roads are bad, it may take a while for the tow truck to arrive.

5. Save Your Energy - Don't overexert yourself trying to push or dig out your car.

Some other things to remember:  If you become stranded stay with your vehicle, always wear your seatbelt and never drink and drive.
