Since this is my second week on the Get Up And Go Show with Chad Taylor, I'm having a little bit of trouble having to go to bed earlier than I used to.  So today, I was wondering what natural sleep aid products could put me on the right track to getting a good night sleep.  Here's what I found:

VALERIAN TEA

Here's something you can ask for next time you go thru the drive thru at Starbucks.   "Valerian Tea".   It contains natural sedative compounds that help reduce the time it takes to fall asleep.  If you're not really a "tea drinker" like me, try taking 300 mg of Valerian root instead.

MAKE A SLEEP PILLOW

What the heck is a "sleep pillow"?  These are little pillows filled with herbs .  Stuff a cloth bag with relaxing herbs like lemon balm, chamomile, and lavender, and sew it closed.  Place the bag next to your actual pillow or inside your pillow case.  the aromatherapy from the herbs can help calm you down and fall asleep.

VITAMIN B

Vitamin B is essential for growth, development and other body functions.  B3 has been shown to increase REM sleep and decrease the amount of times you wake up during the evening.  B6 aids in the production  of serotonin.  B9, known to many as "folic acid" helps regulate our sleep patterns. BUT...if you have TOO MUCH B9,  it can cause healthy problems.  B12 promotes normal sleep wake cycles and has been reported to help people with insomnia fall asleep.

EAT OATMEAL

Oats  are a rich source of melatonin. Oats are also complex carbohydrates that help more tryptophan get into your brain.

CATNIP?   YES....CATNIP!

Try catnip from a health care store.  The same herb that makes cats go nuts, actually helps us get a good night sleep.  Now...before you jump your cat's stash of catnip, think again.  You need to get it from the health food store..I'm just sayin'....You can take it as a supplement, or you can drink it like tea,  or  add the brew of water and catnip to a bath before going to bed.
