My family is an odd one. But the good kind of odd where I am willing to be open about it!

Typically we start the season a week or two before Dec. 25th, by going out and cutting down a Christmas tree that is far too large for our house. Decorating that was always a matter of finding the best branches that would display my dad's Elvis Presley ornaments the most prominently.

Christmas Eve is spent with my mom's side of the family. A huge meal is served, we open gifts with all my cousins, aunts and uncles, and then it is off to Christmas Eve mass!

Christmas morning is spent with just my immediate family. We wake up (my sister wakes everyone up) and immediately the Yule Log channel is turned on TV. It is a big deal to us, especially when someone throws another log on the fire! We open our gifts to each other then get ready to head to my dad's family celebration!

This is where it can get really weird. The past 5 years we have had "Themed Minke Christmas". A few of our themes from the past have been Come as your favorite National Lampoons Character, Formal Christmas, Flannel and PJ's, and Hawaiian Christmas. My dad looks great in a coconut bra. Pictures can be seen below.

We spend all of Christmas Day snacking and hanging out! Can't beat quality family time!

What are some of your odd Christmas traditions?! Share them with me in the comments!
