My Favorite Goo Goo Dolls Song – Black Balloon [VIDEO]

I first fell in love with the Goo Goo Dolls in 1995 when they released their 5th Album "A Boy Named Goo" I was hooked. 1998's album "Dizzy Up The Girl" is one of my favorite all time albums to date. John Rzeznik was my man. Girls my age were all about Hanson and BSB, I wanted the Rock star. Peter K laughs at me because Johnny doesn't brush his hair, how can I daydream about  someone with poor hygiene? I think that's what makes Johnny so sexy, plus his raspy man voice....hello! Oh how badly I would like for him to slide up in to my room, so we can runaway, runaway, runway :)

So many great songs from 'Dizzy.' "Slide," "Broadway," "Iris," "January Friend," "Dizzy," and my personal favorite "Black Balloon."

Now the meaning behind the song is very dark, Johnny says the songs is about a woman with a heroin addiction and how her lover is desperately trying to save her. 1998 was a horrible year for me. I was in the 8th grade. Even though I didn't have an addiction to drugs, I still battled demons. Demons that were bullies. I wasn't the popular kid, I was the one getting picked last in gym class, food thrown at me in the lunch room, the butt of the jokes. Even walking home from school, the boys would yell mean things at me as they walked behind me. I would come home crying everyday hating life. I was in the 8th grade, I shouldn't feel this way. My savior, the lover helping me battle the demos, was the family dog, Molly. She would lick up the tears and just be by my side everyday when I got home. My dog saved me. My dog helped me realize that the bullies don't matter in life, it what I make of it. So thank you Molly, and the Goo Goo Dolls, for pushing me to believe in myself and to not let what others say take control of my life.
