My Families Relaxing Leech Lake Getaway [PHOTOS]

I had one plan for my aunt Mary Ellen, that was to get her back to Walker before she headed back to Milwaukee. Mary Ellen use to spend a week in Walker every summer with her husband Donnie, but once illness struck their household, those trips ended, and she hasn't been there since. Unfortunately, Donnie passed away a few years back, and Mary Ellen didn't think she'd ever see Leech Lake again.

That's where I come in! I knew how special that Lake and area were to the two of them, and it was my mission to see that she got back to her "happy place" before flying home. I was able to book a weekend getaway at Brindley's Harbor Resort, which is right on Leech Lake, and see her face light up with delight (and a little bit of sadness). I know Donnie was on her mind, and I'm certain she didn't make the trip alone. He was definitely there in spirit, and happy she could once again enjoy the sights and sounds of the lake.

If you get a chance to get up north and visit Walker, might I suggest staying at Brindley's. The owners were so accommodating and couldn't have been easier to work with. We will back very soon.

P.S. we stayed in cottage 6...2 bedrooms, living room. kitchen and bathroom. Great deck with rocking chairs and a swing / fire pit out front. We had a grill and picnic table to use if needed as well.
