I made it very clear to my daughter that I expect her to still keep up with her school work even though there's been no school the past two days.  I didn't want her down time to be all about the 'iPad' and 'Monster High Dolls.'  I know her teacher would want her to practice her reading, spelling, math and other skills that are so important in the second grade.  I love that I don't have to force Macy to read.  She loves taking trips to Barnes & Noble with me and in most cases would rather buy a book than a toy.

I came downstairs last night to find her cuddled up on the couch reading the new 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid.' She was thrilled to share with me that she's already on page 144 and almost finished with the book.  On another note, the cold not only has my daughter wrapped up in her new warm blanket, but the other members of my household find the need to keep warm with mine.  The two most unlikely cuddle candidates made a temporary peace treaty until this extreme cold weather passes.
